Addi's Faith Foundation
Pledges $201,352 for Research Project
at MD Anderson Cancer Center
AFF is funding an extremely important and oh so special research project.
Currently, there are live tumor cells growing in the lab that once belonged to Addison Faith, a beautiful little girl who died from an ATRT brain tumor and who is the inspiration behind AFF. For over three years, these aggressive tumor cells have been growing and nothing has been able to "kill" them...until now. Initial laboratory data suggests that a new class of agents called HMT inhibitors has stopped the viability of these awful tumor cells. This three year long research project will provide essential knowledge about the treatment of brain tumors and who knows, it might even lead to a cure! We are excited to follow this project and see where it leads! After all...everything is possible for him who believes!
Thanks so much to everyone, past and present, for supporting Addi's Faith Foundation and thus allowing such vital research to be done.
After a 8 month battle with cancer, AJ, at the age of 14 died Jan. 5, 2008. His family started a group called People Against Childhood Cancer and are asking you to sign this petition to help raise awareness and find a cure.
RAISE AWARENESS & FUNDING FOR CHILDHOOD CANCER CHILDHOOD CANCER FACTS
-Childhood cancer is the #1 killer disease of our children, more than from asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, congenital anomalies, and pediatric AIDS combined
- 1 in 300 children will be diagnosed with cancer before age 20
- Each year 3,000 children die, and 35-40,000 are in treatment
- Only 3% of all cancer research money goes to childhood cancer. A bill in Congress will provide $30 million per year to fund research for childhood cancer. For comparison, that amount currently funds 2 hours of the war overseas. So our war against childhood cancer is vastly under-publicized and under-funded.
